COLUMBIA — Blake Eads was determined to not let history repeat itself all while trying to make school history last week at Mizzou Arena.
Last Thursday night, Eads was finally able to take the mat against a rival from Butler – just 34 miles from Sherwood. Fast forward nearly six minutes, and Eads was sitting on a flattened Damian Alkire, a Butler junior, throwing his hands into the air as the seconds tick down on their final match.
Seconds later, Eads is celebrating around the mat, pointing and yelling toward the raucous Sherwood crowd after beating Alkire by a 10-3 decision for the 144-pound state championship.
