Marie Loraine Worel March 26, 1943 – September 5, 2024
Marie Loraine Worel, age 81, died peacefully at her home on September 5th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 26, 1943, in Kansas City, KS, to Francis and Audrey Rickman. She attended schools in Kansas City, KS, Lyman, WY, Oklahoma City, OK, Cleveland MO, and graduated from Karachi American School in Karachi, Pakistan, where her father worked for the Federal Aviation Administration.
Marie’s passion was reading. She had a large collection of books of various topics and was always eager to share what she had read. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, cuddling with her cats and dogs and reminiscing about her days in Pakistan. She dearly loved her family and looked forward to their visits, phone calls, and pictures.
Marie was united in marriage to Robert E. Worel on June 26, 1976, by Rev. Joe Brewster in an outdoor ceremony, at her home, in Cleveland, Mo. She had worked at various companies including AT&T, Clipper Manufacturing, Pitman Manufacturing, Cotter and Company, and Allied Signal, where she retired as an Accounts Payable Examiner.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents; and her brother; Ted (Caroline) Rickman. She is survived by her husband; Robert Worel, of the home, sister; Nadine Bracken of Freeman, MO, her children; James D. Moul, of Independence, MO; Sheri (Mike) Kurzweil, of Freeman, MO; Carol (Darrin) Stafford, of Harrisonville, MO; her grandchildren: Josh (Kelsie) Stafford of Harrisonville, MO; Danielle (Joe) Nagel of Nixa, MO; Jonathan (Mikki) Moul of Olathe, KS; Monica (Chris) Gooch of Columbia, MO; Jason (Emily) Kurzweil of Freeman MO; Paige (Brett) Houchen of Freeman, MO; and her great grandchildren: Kaylyn, Adeline, Evelyn, Leni, August, Dawson, Morgan, Otto, and Kylie.
