Although it needed overtime to do it, the Archie girls defeated Butler in the third-place game Saturday afternoon.

Second half rally propels Archie to second-straight state title
ST. JOSEPH — After what they called their worst half of football all season, Archie responded with a dominating performance that sealed up their second-straight state championship.
Archie junior Jackson Kash scored three touchdowns in the Whirlwinds’ 46-28 victory over Bishop LeBlond in the state semifinals Saturday.

On Saturday afternoon, the Archie football team will have a chance to do something that hasn’t been done in the past 10 years of Missouri 8-man football.

ARCHIE — Less than two years after beginning her pole vault career, senior Mollie Andrews is headed to an NCAA Division II school next year to continue her athletic career.
Adrian will be competing for the Class 1 state championship at 3 p.m. Satuday at Faurot Field in Columbia.

ARCHIE — Another familiar foe rests between the Whirlwind football team and its ultimate goal of repeating as the Missouri 8-man state champion.

ARCHIE — Jackson Kash jumped the route and intercepted an Appleton City pass to clinch Friday night’s victory, and he did it seconds after his coach yelled at him to not give up a long touchdown.
The Archie football team won its third-straight district title Friday night. The Whirlwinds beat Appleton City, 52-30, advancing to the state quarterfinals.
High school football: Adrian, Archie advance; Rooster eliminated
Adrian and Archie have advanced to the final eight of their respective classes in the state football tournament. However, Pleasant Hill lost a close contest and was eliminated from the Class 4 tournament.

JEFFERSON CITY — Mollie Andrews didn’t have the state track and field meet she wanted after a pair of top-three finishes in the hurdles last year, but she ended her season with a state record and championship.
Archie junior Mollie Andrews broke the school record in the pole vault last weekend at the Class 2 sectional meet. She cleared 11 feet, 11 inches and won the event.

On Saturday, three school records were broken and a couple dozen athletes qualified for the Class 1 and 2 state track and field meets.
Midway freshman Moriah Perrenoud-Moore wins the 400-meter dash in a time of 1 minute and 2.84 seconds. Perrenoud-Moore has a been a dominant force in the 400 dash during the first month of the season.

While the Adrian boys track and field team had a strong performance at the Midway Invitational last week, the Midway girls squad may have itself one of the best quarter-milers in the state.
