The high school football district brackets were just released by MSHSAA, and three teams will be hosting games next week, while two others have bye weeks to begin the postseason.
In Class 4 District 7, rivals Harrisonville and Pleasant Hill will square off for the second time this fall, as they earned the No. 3 and No. 6 seeds, respectively. They will play at.7 p.m. Friday at Harrisonville’s Memorial Stadium.
They faced off in Harrisonville on Oct. 3 and the Wildcats won 31-6 after jumping out to a big lead early in the contest. The winner will face either Nevada or Southeast in the district semifinals.
In Class 1 District 5, Adrian earned the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye along with top-seeded Windsor. The Blackhawks await the winner of No. 3 seed Midway and No. 6 seed Polo.
Midway and Polo will face off at 7 p.m. Friday at Midway. It will be the first time the Vikings host a district game since 2019.
On the other side of the bracket, Sherwood earned the No. 5 seed, and the Marksmen will play Crest Ridge for a game at 7 p.m. Friday. The game will be played in Warrensburg, according to Sherwood coach Kasey Tittlemier, because of construction at Crest Ridge's stadium. The last time they played Crest Ridge was 2020 in a district tournament loss.
In 8-man District 2, two-time reigning state champ Archie is once again the No. 1 seed. The Whirlwinds will play either Lincoln or Osceola in the district semifinals in Archie on Nov. 7.
Drexel earned the No. 3 seed and a home game. The Bobcats will play Rich Hill at 7 p.m. Friday. The winner of the game will travel to No. 2 seed Appleton City on Nov. 7.
