Weldon Duane Passeau, 80, Peculiar, departed this world on Friday, February 9, at Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, at Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, with military honors rendered at 2:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 9, at 1:00 p.m. at Brown Cemetery in Wyandotte, Oklahoma. Donations may be made to The Raymore-Peculiar Public-School Foundation.

Duane was born January 5, 1944, in Seligman, MO. After spending his first few years of school in southern Missouri, Duane moved to Belton and continued through middle school when he then moved to Peculiar and graduated from Raymore-Peculiar High School in 1962. Duane attended and graduated from Kansas City Junior College and then served in the US Army where he was stationed in Germany. In 1972, he married the love of his life, Joyce, and they raised their family in Peculiar. During his career, Duane worked in sales and volunteered his spare time by coaching his son’s baseball teams, as well as volunteering his time on community organizations such as the Raymore-Peculiar Optimist Club, the Peculiar Lions Club, and the Raymore-Peculiar School Board. Duane spent his retirement years in his greenhouse and loved sharing his plants with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; his daughter, Jennifer Gingrich and her husband, Guy; his son, Derrick Passeau and his wife, Cassie. Duane also leaves behind his four beloved grandchildren: Ryan (Tabby) Gingrich, Erik (Hannah) Gingrich, Corbin Callison, and Raegan Passeau; and three great-grandchildren: Kyra Snelson, Jesse Cox, and Alivia Cox.
