A 39-year-old Warrensburg man, David S. Wilson, is in the Cass County Jail, being held without bond, after Sheriff’s Deputies arrested him Wednesday afternoon following a chase which included a wreck on I-49.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, around 1 p.m. members of the office’s Criminal Apprehension Unit attempted to stop a black passenger car with a stolen license plate south of Harrisonville.
The driver failed to stop for deputies and fled at a high rate of speed north on I-49. The car exited the highway in Harrisonville and continued through the city before traveling north Rock Haven Road.
An attempt to stop the vehicle with a grappler device fail as the driver drove through the grass median and continued north on I-49.
Just south of State Route J, the driver attempted to pass a vehicle and drove into the highway median, struck and embankment, disabling the vehicle.
The driver, Wilson, and a passenger were taken into custody. The vehicle was confirmed stolen out of Lee’s Summit.
Wilson is charged with aggravated feeling a stop or detention; possession of a controlled substance; and tampering with a with first degree tampering with a motor vehicle. All three charges are Class D felonies.
Wilson is to appear before Judge Jason Howell on Friday for arraignment.
