This football season the Wildcats participated in T-Mobile’s Friday Night 5G Lights and was just announced as the first team to win the “Team Magenta Fan Favorite” award that added an additional $25,000 to their winnings. After finishing in 11th place overall, this brings the total winnings to $55,000 after winning the first $25,000 for being one of the 25 finalists and they won $5,000 from winning the “5K Friday’s” sweepstakes. T-Mobile and Harrisonville High School will be hosting a celebration for the Wildcats’ achievements on Nov. 14.
This new award chooses one school that stood out for its creativity and community pride from T-Mobile employees. Harrisonville was actually the only school that made the top 25 finalists for the state of Missouri, alongside many other schools that were the only ones left representing their state. This competition celebrates high schools nationwide that compete by showcasing their pride in their community, school spirit, creativity and earning votes for their spirit week challenges.
“Harrisonville showed incredible heart and hometown pride — the kind of energy that defines Friday Night 5G Lights,” said Pedro Byers, Director of Market Sales for T-Mobile. “Their passion brought the community together in a way that truly embodies Team Magenta spirit.”
Taking home the grand prize is a smaller school from southwestern Arkansas, earning the first stadium upgrade in over 20 years. In second place, Lebanon High School in Oregon remained neck and neck with Dierks until the end, together the schools generated 3.4 million votes. Lebanon will receive $100,000 as the runner-up and the third placed school in Maine is taking home $50,000.
