A Flock camera identified a vehicle connected with a shooting yesterday and Cass County deputies arrested a shooting suspect this morning after a pursuit that began in Peculiar and ended with a crash in Lee’s Summit.

Just after 8:30 a.m. identified the vehicle of 36yearold Brendan Freed of Bates City, flagged earlier by a Flock camera in connection with a shooting in Odessa. When a deputy attempted a stop, Freed rammed the patrol vehicle and fled north on I49, prompting a multiagency pursuit assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Freed eventually crashed near SW Peterson Road and E 137th Street in Lee’s Summit and was taken into custody after a short foot chase. Deputies recovered a rifle from the vehicle. No officers were injured, and the patrol vehicle sustained only minor damage.

Freed, who already had a felony warrant for weapon possession in Lafayette County, is being held at the Cass County Jail with additional charges pending.
