Shaun Muncy
June 29, 1981 – January 23, 2024
Shaun Muncy, 42, died January 23rd, 2024, due to a farm accident. Shawn was born June 29, 1981, in Kansas City, to Dennis and Donna (Alexander) Muncy. He grew up on his family farm where he was raised by his grandparents. He was a 1999 graduate of Archie High School. After school he enlisted in the US Navy where he served honorably for 4 years. He also served in law enforcement in York County, NE, Greeley Count, NE and Valley County, NE from around 2020 to 2023. While with the Sheriff’s department he made a huge impact on those communities as well as going through training to become a K-9-unit Officer. He also ran for Sheriff of Greeley County.
Shaun was a very gifted musician playing the steel guitar for many bands from Texas to South Dakota. He most recently was playing with Randy Burghardt and his band. His stage presence and love for his music was very strong. Music was his gift to people, his pride, and his peace.
Shaun was loved by many and recently made his way to South Dakota for a brief time. He found work on a farm nearby in Salem. The farming life was one of his many loves in life. In his brief stay in South Dakota, he made an impact on everyone that had the chance to meet him.
Shaun will always be remembered for his jokes, that cowboy smile of his, and his way of lighting up any room. He made an impression on everyone he met and will forever be in their hearts.
Shaun is survived by his fiancé, AliJo Pawlowski and her children; daughter, Reagan Muncy; father, Dennis (Becky Shoaf) Muncy; mother, Donna Alexander Muncy; grandmother, Phyllis Alexander; brother, Nathan Muncy (Niki); sister, Madison Muncy; uncle Scott (Dana) Alexander; aunts, Denise (Jeff) Klepac and Cheryl Stevens; and his dog, Crosik, who served as Shaun’s law enforcement companion; and lots of extended family and friends.
A funeral was held on January 29th in Salem, SD. A celebration of life will be held locally at a later date.
