Robert Eugene Stein
January 12, 1943 – May 22, 2024
Robert (Bob), 81, of Garden City, was born on a farm near Ave, IL, to John Howard and Bonnie Mae (Davis) Stein. He attended school at Vergennes, IL, and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
Bob worked as an inventory management specialist for the government. A transfer brought him to MO. Later he went to a barber school and opened his own shop in Garden City, did some substitute teaching, and was a volunteer EMT for the Garden City Ambulance for four years. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Harrisonville, MO.
In 1964, he married Juanita Stearns, and they had three children, Michael, Beverly and Lisa. After a separation, he met Marilyn Watson and they married on August 1, 1975, creating a blended family adding Marilyn's children, Gregory and Judith. They adopted Helena Park to be another daughter.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael; great-grandson, Owen; and stepmother, Gloria. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of the home; children, Gregory Watson (Melody), Raytown, Beverly Stein, Garden City, Judith Mantone (Tommy), GA, Helena Park, Harrisonville, and Lisa Linder (Robert) of Harrisonville; daughter-in law, Jennie, IL; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, Tom (Susie), John (Lisa), Wade (Sandy); stepbrother, Carl "C.G."; sister, Marlene Baker (Jeff); and stepsister, Janet Drueke (John), all of Illinois.
