ARCHIE —- The Western Missouri Sheriff’s Critical Incident Investigation Team is investigating a fatal shooting involving the Cass County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a disturbance in rural Archie and upon arrival, deputies encountered an armed male in a driveway. According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, there was an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and deputies.
The suspect sustained a gunshot wound and deputies administered life-saving measures until the arrival of EMS.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. No law enforcement officers were injured during the incident, according to the press release.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Western Missouri Sheriff’s Critical Incident Investigation Team identified the victim as Russell Heide, 55, of Archie.
