Nettie Lucille “Ole Nannie” (Walker) Vesser

Nettie Lucille “Ole Nannie” Vesser (nee Walker) of Harrisonville, passed away at home on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the age of 97. 

Visitation and funeral services were held May 21, 2024, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel, Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Burial in Sunset Gardens Cemetery, Marshall. Nettie was born on August 20, 1926, in Miami, to Leonard and Fannie Maye (Campbell) Walker. Nettie cherished life, her family, and the vast amount of time she got to spend with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was loved dearly by all. Nettie was married on June 12, 1946, to Junior Renno and welcomed their first child Douglas. Nettie later married Marcus Leroy Vesser on August 23rd, 1959, and welcomed their three daughters Lesia, Michelle, and Melissa (deceased).

Nettie’s memory will be forever treasured by her surviving family: son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Linda Renno, Waynesville; daughter and son-in-law, Lesia and Robert Shadwick of St. Joseph; and daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Jeff Cryderman, Harrisonville; one sister, Thelma Sue Reynolds (Walker), Marshall; two brothers, Loyd Calvin Walker, Ft. Worth, TX and Larry Kenneth Walker, Bismarck, ND; 10 grand-children, Tabby Reeves, Douglas Renno II, Meri Beth Renno, Marcus Shadwick, Kattie Shadwick, Joseph Goss, Kimberly Kapp, Brandon Cryderman, Brian Cryderman and Erin Cryderman; 10 great-grandchildren, Nicholas Renno, Jonathan Krause, Lily Goss, Cooper Kapp, Carson Kapp, Collins Kapp, Logan Shadwick, Jason Goss, Joshua Goss and Hope Reeves. Nettie also had numerous nieces and nephews that she adored and loved and received the same love in return.

Nettie was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus Leroy Vesser; one daughter, Melissa Ann Vesser; three brothers, James Leonard Walker, Harold Robert Walker and Ralph Lee Walker; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Farnham (Walker), Detriana Orena Fann (Walker) and Anna Mae Macgruader (Walker); and one great-grandson, Chase Renno.

In her free time, Nettie found joy in gardening, tending to her flowers, doing puzzles, and most of all, spending quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her nurturing spirit and warm presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a loving mom, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
