With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Miles Eaglehawk Humbird, a cherished son, brother, and friend, who left us far too soon on December 7, 2024, at the age of 18. Born on September 28, 2006, in Pennington County, South Dakota, Miles was adopted by the Humbird family at the age of two and warmly welcomed into their home in Archie, Missouri.

A senior at Archie High School, Miles eagerly looked forward to graduating with the Class of 2025. He was an active member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and pursued his interests at the Cass Career Center with dedication. On the football field, he proudly contributed to two consecutive state championship victories—an achievement that reflected not just his athletic prowess, but also his ability to uplift those around him. Away from the field, Miles found joy and purpose in the outdoors, spending countless hours fishing, hunting, snowboarding, and trap shooting. His bright spirit and energetic presence made every gathering more vibrant.

Those who knew Miles remember him for his welcoming smile, kind heart, and the easy way he connected with others. He had a remarkable ability to turn ordinary moments into cherished memories, inspiring all who crossed his path to approach life with warmth, curiosity, and courage. Although his time with us was far too brief, the impact of his life will linger in the stories and hearts he leaves behind.

Miles was preceded in death by his mother, Stacy Humbird; his grandparents, Larry and Shirley Cooper; his aunt, Mardi Humbird; and his uncle, Gene Humbird. He is survived by his father, Rusty Humbird; his siblings, Ty and Lani Humbird; his grandmother, Mary Richardson; his uncles, Randy Humbird, Richie Humbird, and Loni Cooper; and his aunt, Holly Humbird. He will be forever treasured by a wide circle of friends, family, and community members who hold his memory close.

To honor Miles’ life and spirit, a Celebration of Life was held at the Archie High School on December 14, 2024. All who knew and loved him were encouraged to come together, share stories, and find solace in one another’s company as we remembered a young man whose bright legacy continues to inspire us.
