Larry Gill, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, slipped the surly bonds of earth on his 72nd birthday December 29, 2024, at Ava’s House Hospice in Sioux Falls. Private family services will be held at a later date.
Larry Irvin Gill, son of Irvin Ordell “Pappy” and Dorothy Violet (Todd) Gill was born December 29, 1952, in Harrisonville, Missouri. He graduated from Harrisonville High School with the class of 1970 and later graduated Magna Cum Laude from DeVry University earning a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked in Independence, Missouri, for Allis-Chalmers Agricultural Equipment and Machinery Co. for many years before moving to Jackson, Minnesota, for a position as quality control inspector with AGCO. Larry married Barb in 2021 and they have lived in Sioux Falls for the past three years. Larry was diagnosed with Stage 4 Adenocarcinoma on August 5, 2024, which was his fifth bout with cancer. In his free time, he enjoyed watching stock car racing and NASCAR. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. He was skilled with his hands and put that to good use with his woodworking. Larry will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara, of Sioux Falls, and a sister, Pat (Lee) Tiedeman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin “Pappy” and Dorothy; son, David; brothers, Walter “Sonny” and Ken; and sister, Sharon.
