Lane, ramp closures extended for project at 7 Highway South over I-49

CASS COUNTY – Crews working on the bridge replacement and intersection improvement project on 7 Highway South will extend the following lane and ramp closures:

NEW: Ramp closure Tuesday - Thursday

  • The ramp from southbound I-49 to Commercial Street will be CLOSED for sign truss foundation work.

 

Intermittent lane closures through Feb. 9

  • Various daily closures will take place for sign construction on both southbound and northbound I-49 from Commercial Street to just south of 7 Highway. Lane closures are anticipated to take place from through Feb. 9. (Extended from Jan. 8-19 due to weather.)

 

In addition, the following closures will now be in place through March 31 (extended from Jan. 31 due to weather):

  • The ramp from 7 Highway to southbound I-49 will be closed.

 

*Detour information: Traffic on NB 7 Highway should follow the signed detour and take northbound I-49 to Commercial Street, exit and cross the bridge and take the ramp to southbound I-49. Traffic on 275th Street/Outer Road should follow the signed detour and take the outer road south to 307th Street.

  •  The ramp from NB I-49 to 7 Highway will be closed.

 

*Detour information: Traffic on northbound I-49 should follow the signed detour and take northbound I-49 to Commercial Street, exit and cross the bridge and take southbound I-49 back to 7 Highway.

  •  The WB lane of 275th Street (northbound 7 Highway) will be closed across the bridge

 

*Detour information: Traffic wanting to continue west on 275th Street (northbound 7 Highway) or wanting to access southbound I-49 should follow the signed detour and take northbound I-49 to Commercial Street, exit and cross the bridge and take southbound I-49 back to 7 Highway.

This work is part of a larger project to complete two bridge replacements and make intersection improvements to 7 Highway South (275th street) over I-49.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
