An 18-year-old Harrisonville man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Lafayette County on Monday, according to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Around 3 p.m., officers responded to a crash involving two 18-year-olds traveling eastbound on 24 Highway, east of Dover in a 2020 Freighliner M2 box truck. The vehicle overturned, traveled off the left side of the roadway hitting a ditch, overturned again where the passenger was ejected, according to the report. The report also indicated that the driver and passenger were not wearing seatbelts.
The passenger was pronounced dead on the scene by a Lafayette deputy. He was an 18-year-old male from Harrisonville.
The driver was also an 18-year old male, from Belton, and was transported from the scene by Waverly EMS to the Centerpoint Medical Center for treatment.
The identities of persons involved in crashes are no longer released by the MSHP, but the next of kin have been notified.
