Grandview man arrested, charged with felony

Verrell Garrett, 25, of Grandview, was arrested and charged by the Cass County prosecutor with a Class E Felony on July 11 after an incident on July 5.

Cass County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call for an armed disturbance July 5 at Shay’s Fireworks, which is near 171st Street and Holmes Road. It was reported that one of the victims had a gun pointed at them while driving after the suspect had been at the location and returned.

Several days later, deputies with the Criminal Apprehension Unit identified the suspect as Garrett. He was arrested and charged July 11. Garrett is being held in the Cass County Jail with no bond allowed.

Garrett was due in court at 9 a.m. Wednesday for a counsel status hearing in front of Judge Jason Michael Howell.
