This is long overdue, but I can’t recommend this 2024 Dreamworks animated movie enough. During a year of great animated movies, such as “Inside Out 2”, “Moana 2” and “Flow”, this movie was the best, in my humble opinion.
“The Wild Robot” was released in late September, and I saw it a couple weeks later. I should have written this blog in October, but life happened and I forgot.
If you haven’t seen this movie, give it a shot. It’s on Netflix now and it’s a great film for the whole family. Some very young kids might be a little scared of how realistic it is to how brutal nature can be, but they will also love the animals.
It’s an adaptation of Peter Brown’s No. 1 New York Times bestseller, “The Wild Robot.” The adventure follows a helper robot that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island, but must quickly adapt to its surroundings. As shown in the trailers, it soon becomes the adoptive parent of a gosling.
The story goes from there, and it’s wonderful, emotional and heart-breaking at times. If you’re a parent of any kind, grab tissues before starting the movie, but not necessarily for sad scenes.
The animation is gorgeous and honestly looks like a watercolor painting. It’s quite unique but one of the most beautiful animated movies I’ve ever seen.
Please go enjoy this masterpiece, and let me know what you thought about, even if you’ve already seen it. I could talk forever about it, maybe I should start a podcast.
Just remember, “Sometimes, to survive, you must become more than you were programmed to be.”
