Eugene L. "Tuffy" McCauley
September 8, 1957 - June 30, 2024
Eugene L. “Tuffy” McCauley, 66, of Pleasant Hill, was born September 8, 1957, the son of Eugene McCauley, Jr. and Nancy (Cox) McCauley. He departed this life Sunday, June 30, 2024, at his home.
Gene grew up and attended school in Strasburg through the 8th. He was a 1975 Pleasant Hill High School graduate where in his senior year he served as co-captain of the Football Team that went to State.
On May 13, 1989, he was united in marriage to Kathy D. (Bartlett) Bradshaw in Pleasant Hill.
Gene was employed as a Construction Manager for the Superior Bowen Asphalt Co. of Kansas City. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on his farm, and in his garden. He was an avid Chiefs fan. He and Kathy also enjoyed traveling, especially their yearly trip to Las Vegas. Above all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sandra Fraze.
He is survived by his wife Kathy of Pleasant Hill; two daughters and their husbands, Jessica and Jacob Burch and Angela and German Filorio, all of Pleasant Hill; one son Matthew Wilhite of Kansas; one brother, Alex and Ann McCauley of Overland Park; one half-sister, Kathy Litton of Colorado; fourteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2024, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at the funeral home. Reverend Janice Hill will officiate. Honorary casket bearers are Jacob Burch, Kaden Burch, German Filorio, Zackery Filorio, Matt Wilhite, and Toby Wilhite.
Cremation will be accorded following services with inurnment in the Strasburg Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
