Dollar General fire under investigation

Posted

Firefighters from five area departments were on the scene of a fire at the Dollar General Store at the intersection of Commercial and Mechanic streets this afternoon.

Harrisonville was dispatched to the scene at 3:20 p.m. and assistance was given by Central Cass, West Peculiar, Pleasant Hill and Dolan-West Dolan fire departments. The fire was extinguished within an hour.

The cause of the fire is unknown. Other businesses in the building including Domino’s Pizza are closed. The fire marshal was being called to the scene. Once he clears the area, city codes officials will inspect the building to make sure it is safe for the adjoining businesses to reopen. He was expected to do that early this evening.

There will be more information in next week’s edition of the Tribune and Times.
