Danny Roberts Sr.

Danny “Big Daddy” Roberts of Harrisonville, MO was born November 6th, 1953, in Kansas City, MO to James A. Roberts and Imogene (Hopkins) Roberts. He was the youngest of four children.

He departed this life on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.

Danny lived in Harrisonville from the age of 5 till his passing. He started working at the age of 10 for R.L. Hannah and Sam Helt laying sod, bailing hay, and cutting wood.

He was united in marriage on July 10th, 1971, to Elizabeth Moore. In this union they welcomed three sons Danny Jr., Jeff and Darren. Years later they welcomed their daughter Chelsey.

In 1974 While Danny was still working in sod with Eddie Famuliner, he with the help of Winford Snead started Roberts Basement Repair and did so for the next 40 years till he handed over to his youngest son Darren. He had also started a small tire business that turned into Roberts Tire Center until his oldest son Danny Jr. bought him out. Today they are both thriving businesses.

Danny retired in 2010 and enjoyed traveling to many different places. He loved fishing trips with his friends, camping with his wife, spending many weekends at the local dirt track racing with his sons and spending time with his family. Danny was also a member of Cass County Elks Lodge 2791.

Danny is proceeded in death by his parents Jim and Imogene, a sister Glinda Sims, brother Jimmy Roberts and daughter-in-law Cara Roberts.

Danny is survived by his wife Elizabeth of 52 years. Sons Danny Roberts Jr. (Carrie), Jeffery Roberts, Darren Roberts (Destrian), a daughter Chelsey Ethridge (Zach) and a sister Dixie Harper. 9 Grandchildren, Ashley, Austin, Tyler, Brittany, Abby, Carter, Ty, Tori and Kylan. 8 great-grandchildren Paityn, Braelyn, Kenzie, Addilyn, Grace, Austin Jr., River, and Josie.

Danny will be missed by many including his beloved dogs. We love you! He would say (me too).
