BELTON — The body of a 4-year-old boy was found Friday night.
His body was recovered from a pond near 187th Street and State Route Y near 10:20 p.m. Friday.
“We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of the child,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a release. “We also appreciate the vigilance of community members who were concerned during the search.”
On Friday afternoon around 4 p.m., the Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a missing 4-year-old boy in rural Belton. Dozens of first responders searched in the area of 187th Street and State Route Y for hours.
Members of the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, along with several other agencies, searched nearby waterways, roads and wooded areas. Search crews used drones, boats and a Kansas City Police Department helicopter.
