DREXEL — In the championship game of its home tournament, the Drexel boys basketball team ran into a large problem that was tough to overcome. It was a 6-foot, 11-inch problem, to be exact.

JEFFERSON CITY — While taking her final strides toward the finish line Saturday, Josie Parks burst into a big smile.
Archie junior Mollie Andrews broke the school record in the pole vault last weekend at the Class 2 sectional meet. She cleared 11 feet, 11 inches and won the event.
Three school records fall at Class 1, 2 sectional meets
On Saturday, three school records were broken and a couple dozen athletes qualified for the Class 1 and 2 state track and field meets.
Harrisonville’s Kayleigh Norris runs down the home stretch with a big lead during the 1,600-meter run at the 2023 state track and field meet. Norris won the race, earning her first state title. She also placed second in the 800- and 3,200-meter runs at state. She’s back for her junior season, fresh off a state championship in cross country last fall.
