Judge change in Yust case denied

A motion to change the judge and venue in the Kylr Yust murder trial was denied Wednesday morning.

A judge was assigned by the Missouri Supreme Court to determine if 17th Judicial District Presiding Judge William Collins should be removed from the case because of alledged bias. Much of the testimony in the one hour hearing focused on an annonymous letter citing the bias.

Yust is accused of murdering Kara Kopetsky in 2007 and Jessica Runions in 2016. Both bodies were found my mushroom hunters in 2017.

The trial is expected to begin next month.

A complete story will appear in the March 11 South Cass Tribune.
