David Duane Fields, 69, Harrisonville, died Sept. 4 at Redwood of Raymore in Raymore.

David was born May 18, 1951, in Kansas City, the son of Robert, Sr., and Emmajean (Myers) Fields.
He worked as an auto mechanic.
David is survived by his parents; and children, David Pippins, Jr., Marcia Pippins, Marvin Pippins, Jammel Fields, Jammie Fields and Olivia.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
Eva M. Gillespie
Sept. 10, 2020
Eva Maxine Gillespie, 91, Harrisonville, died Sept. 10 at the Brone Care Center, Nevada.
She is survived by two granddaughters, Anna Lee Warren and husband, Jason, and Amanda Lee Svetlecic; two great-grandchildren, Ashlynn Warren and Aric Warren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Sept. 14 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville. A graveside service was Sept. 14 at the Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
Gearl D. Hutson
April 29, 1945 – Aug. 30, 2020
Gearl Dean Hutson was born April 29, 1945, in Fulton County, Arkansas, and died Aug. 30 at his sister’s home in Harrisonville at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 1 day.
He was the son of Thurlo Walter and Ella Faye (Crotts) Hutson.
Gearl spent his younger years in Pleasant Hill, graduating from Pleasant Hill High School in 1963.
Gearl was a talented musician. He not only had his own band, J.C. Trio, but played with many other well-known musical artists throughout the years.
In 1985, Gearl married Debbie Davidson, where he gained a daughter, Michelle.
Gearl was a fun-loving man who never knew a stranger and had a wonderful heart.
Gearl was preceded in death by his father, Thurlo Hutson; his mother, Ella Faye Roberts; and daughter, Jammie Arnold.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Keith and husband, Mike, Pleasant Hill; his sister, Glenda Springer, Harrisonville; a granddaughter, Amanda Keith, Kansas City; a grandson, Austin Keith, Pleasant Hill; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many, many friends.
Cremation was accorded. Per Gearl’s wishes, no services are scheduled at this time.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Wallace Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill.
Gloria G. Pouzar
Feb. 8, 1932 – Sept. 11, 2020
Gloria Gladys Pouzar, 88, died Sept. 11 at Beautiful Savior Home Assisted Living in Belton after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Gloria was born at home in Garden City Feb. 8, 1932, the daughter of Albert Henry Mainard and Opal Elizabet (Hood) Mainard.
She started school at Peach Grove, Garden City, and graduated high school at Garden City High, Garden City.
After high school, she married Leslie Kimball and worked for AT&T. They divorced in 1972 with no children. She later married and divorced Joseph Frank “Jay” Pouzar.
Gloria retired from AT&T and later worked and retired from Unity Village, Lee’s Summit.
Gloria had an amazing life. She traveled a lot, flew to European countries, planted plants and had a green thumb. She loved traveling in her RV with her sister, Doris, and gambling at the casinos. She gave to charity, was a warm loving woman and loved to eat catfish.
Gloria was preceded in death by her brothers, Arthur Henry Mainard, Ory Aubrey Mainard and Sidney Dennis Mainard; and sisters, Doris Alberta Meads, Dorothy June Burns and Elda Mae Crust.
Survivors include a brother-in-law, Elton Crust; many nieces and nephews; and a huge amount of friends.
Cremation. A memorial graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City.
Mildred L. Shelton
May 8, 1926 – Sept. 8, 2020
Mildred L. Shelton, 94, Harrisonville, died Sept. 8 at Willow Creek Memory Care, Lee’s Summit.
Mildred was born May 8, 1926, on the family farm in Adrian, the daughter of Guy Ora and Freda Bertha (Hoegar) Sollars.
She attended Coleville School and was a 1943 graduate of Adrian High School.
She married Robert “Bob” E. Shelton Oct. 12, 1946, at the Adrian Methodist Church parsonage. Mildred lived in Adrian until moving to Harrisonville in 1951.
She worked for the Harrisonville School District as an administrative assistant from 1963 until retiring in 1992.
Mildred was a member of the First Christian Church in Harrisonville. She and Bob were members of the Kansas City Model A Club. They traveled all over the country for many years with her sister, Dorothy, and her brother-in-law, Free.
Mildred was an avid bridge player and formed many dear friendships playing cards throughout the years.
Playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her ultimate source of happiness and she thoroughly enjoyed spoiling them.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob, Nov. 16, 2015; two brothers, George Sollars and Russell Dean Sollars; a sister, Dorothy Ferguson; and an infant son, Edward Shelton.
She is survived by a son, Darold Shelton and Dee and a daughter, Delores Beeman and Butch, all of Harrisonville; three grandchildren, Lisa Mitchell and Matt, Chris Beeman and Jon Beeman and Amy; and five great-grandchildren, Mason, Madison and Max Mitchell and Olivia and Henry Beeman.
Funeral services were Sept. 12 at the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville, with burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, Harrisonville.

Sharon K. Shepherd
Aug. 12, 1943 – Sept. 3, 2020
Sharon Kay Shepherd, 77, Clinton, died Sept. 3 at her home.
Sharon was born Aug. 12, 1943, in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, the daughter of William Lee Shepherd and Marcene Woolery-Shepherd.
She spent her childhood years in the Osceola and Clinton areas. Then many years in Urich and Garden City. She was a talented beautician. Her little shop in Creighton was her dream come true.
She then spent more than 25 years as an in-home caregiver after making her home in Clinton. She touched many lives and made a lasting impact on those she cared for. Her compassion, caring, genuine love and sense of humor were her greatest contributions.
Sharon was always happy, had a smile on her face, a laugh to share and was never at a loss for words. If you ever saw her at Walmart blocking an aisle lost in conversation, you know that to be true.
She loved spending time with Ed outdoors, camping, fishing and boating.
They owned many campers throughout the years and could always be found around a campfire together. She also enjoyed growing flowers, swimming and anything in the sunshine.
She loved to cook and was quite good at it. Preparing meals for others was one of her favorite things to do.
Sharon’s greatest love was her family. They were always together, no matter the occasion. Whether celebrating a birthday, a holiday (Thanksgiving was her favorite) or just because it was Saturday.
One of her favorite memories was when she and the girls all rode around on country roads with nothing but time and each other. If you don’t know what they were actually doing, don’t ask.
Sharon was a member of the Clinton Christian Church. Her faith in God never waivered. They spoke daily. Her belief in the ever after never faltered.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dennis Shepherd and Ronnie Shepherd.
She is survived by Ed Parks, of the home, her loving companion of 20 years; her children, Kim Willis and Ron Shanks, Clinton, Kurt Helm and Michelle, Deepwater; and Kelli Abbott and Paul, Clinton; her grandchildren, Jenny Hann and Luke and Jamie McCoy and Royce Schulte all of Clinton, and Kaylon Helm, Creighton; two great-grandchildren, Alexa McCoy and Trenton Helm; and brothers Dwayne Shepherd, Warsaw, and Jack Shepherd, Clinton.
Memorial Services were Sept. 9 at the Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton.
Memorial contributions in Sharon’s name are suggested to the Clinton Animal Rescue Endeavor and may be left in the care of the funeral home.

Richard B. Stotts
Oct. 23, 1942 – Sept. 9, 2020
Richard B. Stotts, 77, Harrisonville, died Sept. 9. Richard was born Oct. 23, 1942, in Valentine, Nebraska.
He was a Vietnam veteran and after his military service he went on to complete his education in Washington, D.C., at American University.
While in school, he met and married Carolyn Scott and continued to work in government service for 28 years, retiring as a special agent with the FBI in 1992.
He loved to share the gospel with people, camping, riding the rapids in Colorado with his two sons and training his dogs for pheasant hunting in South Dakota.
Rick is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn; two sons: R. Jerry Stotts, Belton, and Robert C. Stotts and his wife, Roberta, Spring Hill, Kansas; blessed with three grandchildren, Jaiden, Addison and Mila; a brother, Larry R. Stotts and his wife, Brenna, Redlands, California; a brother-in-law, Jerry Scott and his wife, Rose, Midwest City, Oklahoma.
A memorial service was Sept. 12 at the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

Vicky Koehn

Vicky Koehn, 70, Spring Hill, Kansas, died Sept. 5 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Overland Park, Kansas.
Funeral services were Sept. 11 at Mullinax Funeral Home, Drexel Chapel. Burial was in
Sharon Cemetery, Drexel.

Vicky was born Oct. 23, 1949, in Nevada, to Charley and Lavon (Barker) Ross. She grew up and attended school in Rich Hill. On July 23, 1966, she married Earl Dean Koehn and they raised two sons, Timothy and Thomas.
Vicky worked for Bass Buster’s in Amsterdam where she made fishing hooks for lures. According to Vicky, her job title was being a hooker. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and going to garage sale and thrift stores, having dance parties with music by Conway Twitty, driving around town with her grandchildren and watching westerns.
She brought a smile to everyone she met.
Vicky was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her father, Charley; her mother, Lavon; and her brother, Bobby.
She is survived by her two sons, Timothy Koehn, wife Juanita, and his children, Timothy Koehn, Jr. and Lindsey Page and their families; Thomas Koehn, wife Billie, and his children, Tabatha Grah and her family and Morgan Koehn. She is also survived by two sisters, two brothers, and many other family and friends.

E. Carol Richards
Sept. 27, 1945 – Sept. 5, 2020
Evelyn Carol Richards, 74, Independence, died Sept. 5 at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City. She was born Sept. 27, 1945, the daughter of Heber Austin and Beatrice Bernice (Schellenger) Rogers in Emporia, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Hubert Rogers; brother-in-law, Alfred Kennedy; sister-in-law, Kathy Rogers; and her niece, Michelle Kennedy.
Carol is survived by her husband, Merl Ray Richards, Independence; two brothers, Paul Rogers and wife Mary of Butler and David Rogers and wife Goldie, Nevada; a sister, Lois Kennedy, Nevada; and two sisters-in-law, Nancy Rogers, Nevada, and Ruth Weatherman and husband Jim, Independence.
Funeral services for Carol Richards were Sept. 11 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel, Butler, with burial in Ft. Scott National Cemetery, Ft. Scott, Kansas.
Contributions are suggested to the Friendship Full Gospel Church or Evangelistic Center Church.
