Keith Lynn Cooper, 27, Rich Hill, died May 23 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
He was born Jan. 10, 1993, the son of Darren Keith and Christal Dawn Douty Cooper in Nevada.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert Douty; paternal grandfather, Forrest Cooper; and uncle, Jesse Douty.
Keith is survived by his mother, Christal George and husband, Christopher, Rich Hill; father, Darren Keith Cooper and wife, Maria, Nevada; son, Isaiah Cooper-Valdez, Nevada; brother, Ryan Christopher George, Rich Hill; sister, Katelyn Renee George, Adrian; maternal grandmother, Brenda Douty, Butler; paternal grandmother, Joyce Cooper, Nevada; and uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Doris J. Underwood
Aug. 4, 1929 – May 22, 2020
Doris Jean Simpson Underwood, 90, Adrian, died May 22. Graveside services were May 28 at Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian.
Doris, the third of four children, was born Aug. 4, 1929, in rural Adrian, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Edith Elnora Dade Simpson.
She attended Ballard High School for three years and then graduated from Adrian High School in 1947.
Doris married Frank F. Underwood June 25, 1947, in Archie. To this union two daughters were born, Lois Irene Swafford and Joyce Janette Loredo.
Doris moved to Overland Park, Kansas, in 1955 returning to Adrian in 1965. From 1965 to current Doris lived most of her life in the Adrian community.
Doris had a life-long career caring for children as a babysitter and became well known in the Adrian community as “Grandma.” She started her career in Overland Park and continued in Adrian for many years.
Doris loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She loved to travel and hoped to visit all 50 states, however, she missed a few. In her down time, she loved to read, watch westerns on TV, embroidery, take care of her Yorkies and get kisses from Pretty Girl, her 6-foot iguana.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank Underwood; two sisters, Cleo Fern Simpson and Mary Lois Simpson Page; a brother, Frank “Junior” Simpson; infant great-grandson, Shawn Stephen Swafford; and step-grandson, Thong Paul Loredo. She is survived by two daughters, Lois Swafford, Adrian, and Joyce Loredo and Dan of Adrian; four grandchildren, Cherise Heckadon, Overland Park, Kansas, Perry Heckadon and Kelli, Butler, Shawn Swafford and Kim, Adrian, Angela Ngo and Tung, Gulf Port, Mississippi; nine great-grandchildren, Danika and Rocky, Drew, Peyten, Tristen, Wyatt, Kole Haven; and step great-grandchildren Koby, Brandon and Allyson; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
She will sorely missed.

Jerry P. Daniel
Sept. 29, 1942 – May 24, 2020
Jerry Patrick Daniel, Creighton, was born Sept. 29, 1942, in San Diego, California, the son of Jerrold Amon and Pearl Edna (McCall) Daniel.
He died May 24 at his home near Creighton at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 25 days.
March 20, 1967, Jerry married Lora Lee Tuttle in Springfield.
Jerry was employed as a control operator for Kansas City Power and Light from Nov.
15, 1971, until his retirement Jan. 31, 2004.
He was a member of the Creighton Christian Church, a member of the Belton-Grandview Masonic Lodge No. 450 AF&AM and was a Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Kansas City.
Jerry loved to hunt, fish and do wood carvings. He enjoyed tying flies for fishing, working and being on his farm.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Lora Daniel, of the home; two sons, Chad Everett Daniel and wife, Renee, Lohman, and Brandon Dwain Daniel and wife, Angela, Lee’s Summit; three grandchildren, Colton Patrick Daniel, Jesse Dalton Daniel and Cameron James Daniel; a brother, Larry Daniel, Ash Grove; a sister, Karen Butler, Koshkonong; other relatives and many friends.
Cremation. A celebration of life graveside service was May 30 at the Byler Cemetery near Creighton.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
Robert R. Farr
Jan. 16, 1928 – May 22, 2020
Robert R. “Bob” Farr, 92, died May 22 with his children by his side. Graveside services were May 28 at the Freeman Cemetery in Freeman. Contributions may be made to the Harrisonville Golf Club (sand greens) in care of the funeral home.
Bob was born in Freeman Jan. 16, 1928. He was the son of James LeRoy Farr and Mary Amanda (Wilson) Farr. He was one of six children, Chrystal Hayes, Wilson “Dick” Farr, Don Farr, Charlene Atwater and Dale Farr.
He graduated from Freeman High School in 1945 and joined the Navy. Memories of his travels across this country and sailing the seas on the USS Turner destroyer ship were treasured memories of his.
When Bob returned to Freeman from his time in the Navy, the love of his life, Maxine Richardson, was waiting for him. They married Nov. 28, 1948, at the First Christian Church in Harrisonville, and started a nearly 72-year union that brought them three children, Debbee, Robert and Amy.
He worked many years as a carpenter and built many of the homes in Raytown and Independence. Eventually, he started working at the Amoco Pipeline station in Freeman. He retired in 1990. Bob and Maxine lived in Freeman until moving to Harrisonville in 1985 and then to Raymore last year.
His retirement years were filled with family time, bowling and playing golf on the Harrisonville Sand Greens. He also continued to enjoy building projects and puttering in his shop.
Bob was a member of the First Christian Church in Harrisonville.
Bob is survived by his wife, Maxine; and his children, Debbee and Dennis Long, Peculiar, Robert and Jacqueline Farr, Warsaw, and Amy and Craig Newman, Harrisonville; five grandchildren, Brooke and Chad Charpie, Christopher and Lindsay Sturgeon, Tessa and Anthony James, Lindsey and Ben Adams, Michael and Sierra Farr; eight great-grandchildren, Ella Charpie, Cameron Charpie, Layden James, Kyser James, Easton Watson, Sophia Adams, Sybil Adams and Olivia Farr.
He is also survived by a brother, Dick and Mary Lou Farr, Lee’s Summit; and sisters-in-law, Joyce Farr Hart, Dickinson, Texas, and Donna Farr, Raymore; many nieces and nephews and a lifetime of friends.

William Allen Grimes
Feb. 27. 1947 – March 29, 2020
Graveside Memorial Services with military honors for William Allen Grimes will be at 2 p.m. June 14, at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler, under the direction of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel, Butler.
Contributions are suggested to the Henry County Democratic Club for an Al Grimes Scholarship and may be sent to the chapel.
William Allen “Al” Grimes, 73, Urich, died March 29 at University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas.
He was born Feb. 27, 1947, to William “Peanut” Ivan and Ruth Maxine Cox Grimes in Butler.
Al, one of four children, grew up a farm boy in Henry County where he graduated from Sherwood High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in History at the University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg.
He was a member of the Steelworkers and United Auto Workers unions in the late 1960s. Al was a veteran, having served in the United States Navy for 23 years, deployed on a battleship, an aircraft carrier and an Aegis cruiser serving overseas in Guam, Japan, Italy and England.
He also served in the White House for the United States Naval and NATO Atlantic Forces. A community servant as well, he was elected to two terms as mayor of Urich, co-founder of a nonprofit community betterment organization, commander of the American Legion Post No. 371 and member of the Missouri 4th District Democrats.
Al is described as being honorable, passionate, loyal, loving and compassionate. He enjoyed spending time with his daughter and granddaughters, traveling all over the world, standing up for a purpose in politics, making friends and supporting the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals.
Al was not only a loving father, son and brother, but a devoted Harry Truman Democrat who believed in the power of government to improve the lives of Americans.
Al is survived by a daughter, Michelle Grimes Martell and husband, Eddie, and a son, Justin Grimes, all of Westlake, Louisiana; four grandchildren, Kaitlyn Trahan, Breanne Martell, Hunter Grimes and Nathaniel Grimes; and three brothers, Wayne “Red” Grimes, Jerry Grimes and Jim Grimes and wife, Judy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William “Peanut” Ivan Grimes and Ruth Maxine Cox Grimes.
With the restrictions on the number of people who can gather in one location, it’s going to be difficult to bring our community together when a death occurs. Visitations and funerals are more than just ceremonies, they are avenues to bring family and friends together to support one another.

Stuart F. Hampton
June 2, 1985 – May 22, 2020
Stuart Franklin Hampton, 34, Peculiar, died May 22. He was born June 2, 1985, in Kansas City, the son of Scott Hampton and Brenda Seymour.
Stuart was a lifelong Peculiar area resident and a graduate of Raymore-Peculiar High School.
He owned and operated Grateful Bubbles, LLC and had worked as a hoist inspector for The Hoist Guys in Platte City.
Stuart is survived by his mother, Brenda Seymour Waugh, Peculiar; his father and step-mother, Scott and Deanna Hampton, Peculiar; a son, Trace A. Hampton, Peculiar; a half-brother, Stephen Hampton, Peculiar; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Kathryn M. Peters
Aug. 15, 1924 – May 17, 2020
Kathryn Marie (Smith) Peters, 95, Raymore, died May 17.
Kathryn was born Aug. 15, 1924, in Lancaster, New York. She was the eldest of three daughters born to Claude and Lucy (Wheeler) Smith.
She married Edward Peters March 20, 1948, at the Presbyterian Church in Lancaster. They had four children, Ellen, Dale, John and Don.
During most of their working years, they lived in Deerfield, Illinois. Kathryn worked many years as an accountant. Her skills were learned on the job, as she had no previous educational training.
Eventually, she was able to own the business and for several years brought in her daughter-in-law, Pam Peters, as co-owner.
After retirement, Kathryn and Ed moved to Tama, Iowa, where they purchased a home and enjoyed the beginning of their retirement years.
The next move came when they decided to split their time between Bagley, Wisconsin, for the summer months and much warmer winters spent in Tucson, Arizona.
Several years after Ed died in 2004, she decided it was time to make one more move to Raymore where she remained until her death.
Kathryn was a wonderful mother and grandmother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She loved reading, the outdoors, travel, quilting, history, volunteering and her church family.
She stayed active by walking, swimming and her weekly shuffleboard games. Kathryn was selfless and always put others ahead of herself.
Never wanting to talk about her own accomplishments, she was in the Girl Scouts, a member of the Cayuga Jr. Rifle Club in high school and was certified as a sharpshooter by the National Rifle Association Jr. Club.
She was salutatorian of her graduating class and very proficient in shorthand and typing.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ed; her sisters, Jane (Smith) Kuntz and Eleanor (Smith) Wertz; brothers-in-law, Bud Kuntz and Fred Wertz; son-in-law, Gary Clemens; and grandson Matthew Clemens.
Kathryn is survived by daughter, Ellen Clemens; and sons, Dale Peters and Pam, John Peters, Don Peters and Lonnie; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later time in Raymore with final internment at the Lancaster Rural Cemetery.

Richard D. Vaughn
Jan. 5, 1942 – May 25, 2020
Richard Danny Vaughn, 78, Pleasant Hill, was born Jan. 5, 1942, in Pleasant Hill the son of Bernie Edwin and Lula Blanche (Walker) Vaughn. He died May 25 at the Redwood of Raymore Health Care Center.
Danny attended the Judy School near Pleasant Hill and later attended Pleasant Hill High School.
Aug. 28, 1960, he married Dorothy Jane Vaughn in Greenwood. She preceded him in death Sept. 24, 2018.
Danny was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Pittman Construction and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local No. 101.
He was a member of Jewel Lodge No. 480 AF&AM. He enjoyed playing the fiddle, guitar and the mandolin with various local country music bands and he loved tinkering around in his shop at home.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Harold Vaughn, Harry Vaughn, Leo Vaughn and Bernie Vaughn.
He is survived by three sons Rick and Holly Vaughn, Pleasant Hill, Chris and Robin Vaughn, Amoret, and Kelly Vaughn, Burleson, Texas; five grandchildren, Loren Faldz, Peculiar, Chad and Sarah Vaughn, East Lynne, Mitchell Vaughn, Pleasant Hill, Korie Vaughn and Collin Vaughn, both of Burleson; five great-grandchildren, Aaron, Lydia, Nona, Jimi and Zoey; a brother, Arlin and Stella Vaughn, Adrian; other relatives and
friends.
Graveside services were May 28 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Rob Vaughn officiated. Casket bearers were Rick Vaughn, Chris Vaughn, Kelly Vaughn, Bill Vaughn, Collin Vaughn and Rob Vaughn.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Children’s Mercy Hospital and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill.
