Kiwanis Club raising funds
The Kiwanis Club of Harrisonville is fundraising to help support Harrisonville School District focused activities: Terrific Citizens at ECC, Terrific Kids at McEowen, Santa Calling for ECC students, Mock Interview Day at HHS, Burnt District Reading Booth and Book Giveaway, Reading Night at ECC and Kindergarten Reading at ECC.
To raise funds, the club is selling Wildcat bracelets which can be purchased for a limited time with a donation of $25.
The set is an adult one-size-fits-all and includes four pieces that can be worn together or separately.

Free community health screenings at Commerce Bank
Cass Regional Medical Center is providing free health screenings from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 21 at Commerce Bank, at 1301 S. Locust St., Harrisonville.
Receive free blood pressure, blood oxygen and blood sugar screenings, and obtain a free total lipid profile which measures total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides.
For most accurate results, screening participants are asked to fast for at least 12 hours prior to the screening and take medications as usual (with water only). No appointments are necessary.

Town Hall meeting planned
Alderwomen Judy Bowman and Judith Reece will have a town hall meeting at 9 a.m. Jan. 12 in The HUB at the Harrisonville United Methodist Church, 2600 E. Mechanic St., Harrisonville.
Sonya McLelland, administrative director of foundation, marketing and public relations, and trauma program coordinator Paula McBride, RN, CEN with Cass Regional Medical Center, will be the guest presenters.
McBride will demonstrate the capabilities of “Trauma Hal,” the newest member of the CRMC patient simulator family. Hal is a trauma patient simulator used for the ongoing training and preparedness of Cass Regional’s Emergency Department staff and area EMS professionals.
McBride will also discuss “Stop the Bleed,” a national awareness campaign to educate first responders, teachers and the public about bleeding control.
There will be time for questions regarding happenings in the city, and refreshments will be provided.
Feb. 22 and March 5
Pesticide training scheduled
Cass County will have its annual Private Pesticide Applicators Training at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 22 and 6 p.m. March 5.
To register, call the Cass County Extension Center at 816-380-8460. Those planning to attend are asked to call at least one week before the class.
In case of bad weather, the classes may be rescheduled.
Attendees are also asked to let the staff know at registration if any special accommodations are needed.
Attendees are required to purchase a manual (M87) for $12 unless they bring a 2007 copy of the manual with them.
