Errol F. (Skip) Durbin, 81, Harrisonville, MO, passed away Monday, December 30, 2024, at his Grand-daughters home in Belton, MO.
Errol was born April 23, 1943, in Fort Scott, KS, a son of Joseph Durbin, Sr. and Katherine E. (Noggle) Durbin. He graduated from Harrisonville High School Class of 1961. He went into the Army for two years and then onto College at Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science. After running and owning funeral homes he decided to change his career path and got a degree in Aviation Science and started work for the FAA in which he retired. He worked very hard to provide for his family well by investing and building in real estate.
On February 14, 1967, Errol was united in marriage to Joanne Griffith in the Christian Church in Enid, OK. To this union, they had one daughter, Brenda Michelle.
Errol was a charter member of the Church on the Rock in Harrisonville. He was a former Commander of the American Legion Post 42, Started the Sons of the American Revolution in Cass County, Member of the Honor Guard, Former President of the Cass County Genealogy Society. The one thing that was most important to Errol was his family. He poured his time into his daughter, granddaughter and great-grandchildren. He was the life of the party, never knew a stranger and was well connected because of the way he made people feel. Never a dull moment with him near.
Errol was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers and one sister. He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Cox and her husband, Craig; granddaughter, Brooke Winfrey and her husband, Andrew; five great-grandchildren, Emma Wagner and her husband Bryce, Parker, Grant, Hudson, and Beckham; and one great-great-grandson, Beau.
