Delmar Otis Morriss, 88, of Garden City, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at his home. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville, MO. Interment at Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, MO.
Delmar was born on August 4, 1936, in Nodaway County, MO, growing up in the rural community of Guilford, where he fostered a strong connection to family and outdoor life. A proud graduate of Nodaway High School, Delmar embarked on a successful career in automotive production, dedicating 32 years to General Motors before retiring in 2000. His work ethic and commitment were evident throughout his life, reflecting a deep sense of pride in his craft.
Delmar married the love of his life, Delores “Dee” Hall, on August 18, 1957, in Kansas City, MO. Together they created a warm and loving home for their family. Delmar was a devoted father to his children: Stephen, Randy, Shelly, and Bobbi. The joy Delmar felt for his family was immeasurable, and he found true happiness in the laughter and love of his children and grandchildren, always doting on them for their achievements.
A passionate gardener, Delmar found solace in yard work and cherished the beauty of nature.
He enjoyed playing cards, especially Pitch, and had a special place in his heart for Bingo and football, always cheering on his favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs. Delmar will be lovingly remembered for his gentle spirit, his unwavering support, and the countless memories he created with those he loved. He left an indelible mark on all who knew him through his kindness, humility, and the joy he brought into their lives.
Delmar was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dee; and his siblings: Don, Charles,Virgil, Wayne, Bill, Ann, Alene, Amy, and Rosaline. He is survived by his children: Stephen (Tina) Morriss, Harrisonville, MO; Stacy “Randy” (Jawane) Morriss, Garden City, MO; Shelly Ephland, Belton, MO; and Bobbi Lietzke, Belton, MO; his 6 grandchildren: Stephanie Morriss, Cameron (Nick) Foreman, Spencer Morriss, Trenton Morriss, Kaden Thornberg, and Ryan Bennett; his brother, Erwin Morriss; and many extended family and friends.
