William Anthony “Bill” Benson, 82 years of age, passed away peacefully on October 20 with family by his side in Colorado Springs, CO.
Bill was born on December 29th, 1940, in Brooklyn, NY to the late William and Marie Benson. He is one of 3 children, preceded in death by his brother, Robert Benson. After high school he received a cross country scholarship and headed to Emporia, KS. He graduated from Kansas State Teachers College with a degree in Chemistry and began a career teaching high school. He taught in Ulysses, KS and in Kansas City, KS. After 6 years, he started his sales career with US Vitamin for 4 years. He then made his final career move to real estate sales in Raymore, where he won numerous awards over his 30 plus year career. He then retired and moved to Colorado Springs in 2010 to be close to his stepdaughter and her boys.
Bill made many friends in Colorado and was cherished by all as ‘Big Bill’. His sweet disposition, wit and sense of humor and many inappropriate jokes endeared him everyone he met. He enjoyed old TV shows, news, sports, and taking walks with the amazing views of the mountains in Colorado. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Bill is survived by his brother, Peter; son, Tony; stepdaughter, Kim and son-in-law Kevin Green; grandchildren, Cooper, Ian and Taylor; grand son-in-law, Zach; and great-grandson Landon.
He will be missed by all.
