Clyde William Burton Jr., 90, Harrisonville, passed away Sunday, September 10, at his home surrounded by his family. Graveside services were held Thursday, September 14, at Orient Cemetery in Harrisonville. Contributions may be made to St. Croix Hospice.
Clyde was born November 23, 1932, in Austin, a son of Clyde William and Anna (McKee) Burton. The family lived in the Austin area where Clyde attended Mullen (Fairview) Rural School #55. The family moved to Harrisonville in 1941, where Clyde attended Harrisonville schools. He met the love of his life, Helen I. Parrish, at a skating rink in Butler, and was united in marriage on October 17, 1950, in Bentonville, Arkansas.
Clyde was an Army veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a bus driver and had worked for Crown Coach and Jefferson Bus Lines for 28 years. He later worked at Research Medical Center in Kansas City in the maintenance department. He was a life member of the Harrisonville VFW Post 4409, and the Harrisonville American Legion Post 42. His hobbies included hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and a brother. Clyde is survived by his wife, Helen; a son, Kevin (Donna) Burton; a daughter, Cheryl (Bart) Roughton; and a brother, Larry Burton, all of Harrisonville; 9 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.
