Robert Douglas “Bob” Bilderback

Robert Douglas “Bob” Bilderback, M.D., age 85, died on March 10, 2023, at his home in Beardstown, Illinois. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 6, at 1 p.m. at the Living Faith United Methodist Church, Bowen, Illinois, with Pastor Sheri Renner officiating. An inurnment service will follow at Bowen Cemetery in Bowen, Illinois, with full military honors. Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral service and inurnment.
Robert was born in Quincy, Illinois, on Dec. 29, 1937, the son of Sterling G. Bilderback and Margaret L. (Harrison) Bilderback Kilpatrick. He was the middle child of three sons.
He graduated from Bowen High School in 1955 and entered Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois, in the fall of 1955, where he joined the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity (1955). Robert earned his B.A. in Biology in 1959 from Monmouth College. He was admitted into the Gamma Alpha Graduate Scientific Society in 1959.
Robert entered the University of Missouri School of Medicine, Columbia, Missouri, on Sept. 15, 1959, and was conferred with his Doctor of Medicine Degree (M.D.) on June 4, 1963. He was admitted to the Pi Beta Phi Medical Fraternity in 1962.
Robert passed his Missouri Medical Boards in 1963 and served his medical internship at the Mobile General Hospital, Mobile, Alabama, from July 1, 1963, to June 30, 1964.
Robert was a Vietnam Veteran. His place of entry into service was Harrisonville, Missouri, where he lived and served as a general practice physician with O.B. Barger M.D. and Cass County Hospital both in Harrisonville.
He married Carol Prettyman Aug. 6, 1961. They had one daughter, Teresa Ann. They divorced in 1965. Robert later married Graciela Dominguez Sept. 30, 1966. They had three children, Lisa Michelle, Robert Douglas and John Nicholas. They divorced in 1981.
After his honorable discharge from active military service, Robert first practiced in the Orthopedic Dept. of Robert Greene Memorial Hospital, San Antonio, Texas, as an orthopedic surgeon. He then opened his own orthopedic surgery medical practice in San Antonio, where he lived with his wife, Graciela, and their three children. He had a much-loved ranch where he cared for exotic animals.
After closing his medical practice in San Antonio in 1987, Robert continued his medical research and moved to St. Louis, Missouri, near his father and then Galesburg, Illinois, near his mother, before returning to his childhood roots to reside in Bowen, Illinois. He then moved to Beardstown, Illinois, with his beloved dogs.
Robert is survived by his brother Roger Kent (wife Joyce) Bilderback of Ballwin, Missouri; daughter Teresa Ann Bilderback of Harrisonville, Missouri; daughter Lisa Michelle Bilderback of El Paso, Texas, and granddaughter Lisa Nicole; his two sons Robert Douglas Bilderback, II, Chandler, Arizona, and John Nicholas Bilderback of Los Angeles, California; and his niece, Sheri Bilderback of Brentwood, Missouri.
Robert was predeceased by his brother, Marvin Lowell Bilderback, July 14, 2018, along with his mother, Margaret Lucille (Harrison) Kilpatrick, Dec. 10, 2011, and his father, Sterling Glen Bilderback, Sept. 28, 1999.
Judy Ann Moores
Feb. 7, 1939 – April 6, 2023
Judy Ann Moores, 84, of Pleasant Hill, passed away April 6, 2023, with her loving husband of 63 years by her side. Judy was born Feb. 7, 1939, to Adah May and Austin Monroe Smith in Marshall. She graduated high school in Malta Bend and moved to Kansas City. There she met the love of her life, Eddie Moores, and they married in June of 1959.
Judy was a licensed insurance agent and worked at various insurance agencies during her career. She excelled at and felt tremendous satisfaction in her role as a customer service representative.
Judy’s true love and dedication was to her family. She enjoyed spoiling those she cared for with lots of love and delicious food, insisting to always make extra at mealtimes just in case a friend or neighbor happened to stop by. Judy knew how to make those around her know how special they were.
Her kindness and unwavering love and support was felt by all who knew her and most especially by her children, David and Mindy.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Eddie; son, David (Rene); daughter Mindy; grandchildren, Rachel, Rebecca, Jonathan, Austin, Lauren, and Hannah; brothers, Tommy (Mary), Teddie (Jackie), Randy, Bruce, and Alan; and her great-grandchildren.
Mary Lou McLagan
Nov. 14, 1934 – April 10, 2023
Mary Lou McLagan, 88, Pleasant Hill, was born Nov. 14, 1934, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Franklin A. and Loretta J. (Ruwe) Beuerlein. She departed this life Monday, April 10, 2023, at the Kansas City Hospice House surrounded with love and family.
Mary Lou was a 1953 Norfolk Catholic High School graduate.
On Nov. 28, 1953, she was united in marriage to Robert “Mac” McLagan in Norfolk, Virginia. He preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 2014.
Mary Lou was a gifted artist and spent her life devoted to sharing her gift with others. She started an art studio in her home later moving it to downtown Pleasant Hill where she taught numerous students over the years. She was an active member of the St. Bridget Catholic Church in Pleasant Hill, where she served on the design committee as the church was being built and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also active in the Town and Country Art League in Pleasant Hill, as well as several other art leagues in the Kansas City area.
Mary Lou was also preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Michael Joseph McLagan; one son-in-law, Dan Warren.
She is survived by two sons, Greg (and Christie) McLagan of Littleton, Colorado, and Andy McLagan, of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; three daughters, Jeannie Foster of Kansas City, Kathleen (and Ronnie) Pullin of Port O’Connor, Texas, and Kari Warren of Leawood, Kansas; a sister, Jean Claire Willis of Norfolk, Virginia; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Recitation of the Rosary was at 4:30 p.m. with visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2023, at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the St. Bridget Catholic Church. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were D.J. Breitbach, Tim Long, Don Palmer, Dale Richardson, Peter Sheehan and Dan Zaner. Honorary casket bearers were Marcus Foster, Ben McLagan, Brandon McLagan, Ian Pierce, Matthew Warren, Donatus Kelch and Steve Spandle.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Bridget Catholic Church or the Town and Country Art League and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
