The number of COVID-19 cases in Cass County continues to increase and the latest statistics from the Cass County Health Department indicate there were 185 confirmed (PCR) cases in the county last week, up from 120 cases the week prior. The data is includes the week ending July 24.
In addition, there were 101 probable cases (antigen tests and other cases), up from 53 cases the week prior. Fifty-nine individuals were notified of a potential COVID-19 contact, up from 37 such notifications the week prior.
According to a release Monday, overall, Cass County has reported 8,270 cases, or about 7,757 cases per 100,000 residents.
The county has reported 92 deaths, which amounts to 87 per 100,000 residents, but no deaths were reported in the past week.
The Cass County Health Department administered 117 vaccine doses last week, up from 113 doses the prior week.
They have now administered 9,951 first doses and 9,506 second doses of COVID-19 vaccines through July 10. The department uses the Pfizer vaccines for ages 12 and up and Moderna for age 18 and up.
In addition to health department administered vaccines, other entities are offering vaccines to county residents. According to the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) Data Hub which uses Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data, 42.4 percent of Cass County residents have initiated vaccinations and 36.9 percent have completed vaccinations. The report also indicates 70 percent of residents 65 and older and 46.4 percent of residents 18 and older have been fully vaccinated.
The health department will continue to offer vaccinations by appointment from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its clinic, 300 S. Main St., Harrisonville. For an appointment, residents can call 816-380-8425. Clinics open to the public are also scheduled as follows:
• Thursday, July 29: 5 to 7 p.m. at the First Christian Church, 400 S. Independence St., Harrisonville.
• Friday, July 30: 3 to 5 p.m. at Kids Kountry, 717 S. State Route J, Peculiar.
• Saturday, Aug. 14: 10 a.m. to noon at the Peculiar Lions Club, 500 Schug Ave., Peculiar.
