More than 20 cases of COVID-19 are believed to be associated with a July 3 house party in rural Harrisonville. Besides the health implications, there are also concerns about legal violations at the event.
According to a flyer advertising the party, it was open to anyone 17 or older and bottomless cups of beer and jungle juice were available for $5.
The flyer did indicate security and a bouncer would be on hand. It also said that IDs would be checked, but multiple attendees said there was underage drinking at the party.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
According to Capt. Kevin Tieman, the office’s spokesman, “We got wind of the party just about like everyone else. We have contacted the owners and are investigating.”
He added the office does not investigate health violations, but was investigating possible criminal aspects. There is no indication if or when any criminal charges might be filed.
