Peggy McAnany
July 6, 1931 – June 27, 2020

Peggy McAnany 88, Louisburg, Kansas, died June 27 at the Olathe Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas.

Donna Mae “Peggy” McAnany was born July 6, 1931, in Drexel, the daughter of Morris and Anna Stewart Hewitt.

She grew up in the Drexel area and graduated from Drexel High School.
Peggy married Lloyd McAnany in 1954.

Peggy worked for many years as a school bus driver in Louisburg.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd McAnany; and a son, Larry McAnany.

She is survived by a son Randy McAnany and wife, Pam, Drexel; daughter Judy Mower and husband, George, Olathe, Kansas; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren with one on the way.


Cremation, with private family services to be held at a later date.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Mullinax Funeral Home, Drexel Chapel.

Alice M. Campbell
Aug. 7, 1936 – June 27, 2020

Alice Marie “Peggy” Campbell, 83, Garden City, died June 27. Peggy was born in Pickering Aug. 7, 1936, the daughter of Clayton and Lela Peters.

She married Walter Ray Campbell Sept. 19, 1954, in Topeka, Kansas. Peggy loved her family and friends and enjoyed cooking and loved bird watching.

Peggy was a member of American Legion Post No. 498, Garden City.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton and Lela Peters; her brother, Frank Peters; and her sister, Lula Carnes.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Walter Ray Campbell, of the home; her brother, Fred Peters and Carol, Maryville; her daughter, Rhonda Rae Cella and Joe, Adrian; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She will be missed by her family and friends.

Graveside services were July 4 at the Dayton Cemetery.

Due to the COVID 19 outbreak, a celebration of life will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Research Fund.

Frederick D. Clickner
Aug. 11, 1929 – June 30, 2020

Frederick David “Fred” Clickner, Garden City, was born Aug. 11, 1929, in Smithville, the son of Lee Ray and Anna May (Penry) Clickner.

He died June 30 at his home surrounded by love and family at the age of 90 years, 10
months and 19 days.

July 10, 1960, Fred married Clara Fay Beebe in Butler.

Fred started farming in 1955 and moved to Garden City in 1966. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War having served from 1953 to 1955 with the Military Police in Baltimore, Maryland.

Fred served on the board with the MFA Oil Company, the MFA Exchange, Cass County Pork Producers and the Garden City Fire Department. He was a 1947 graduate of Salisbury High School and had lived in Butler before moving to Garden City.

Fred was a devoted husband and father. He loved farming and through the years had made many wonderful friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles; and a sister, Louise Drysdale.

Fred is survived by his wife, Clara F. Clickner, of the home; his son, David Clickner and Jayne, Garden City; two step-grandchildren, Mike Campbell and Amy, and Cody Campbell and Sarah; six step-great-grandchildren, Caden, Brody, Wyatt, Cyrus, Brinley and Colton; other relatives and a host of friends.

Graveside service were July 3 at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, with military honors.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Kindred Hospice or the Show Me Christian Youth Home.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City.

Charlotte O. Kite
Aug. 2, 1936 – June 30, 2020

Charlotte O’Donna Kite, 83, Harrisonville, died June 30 at Golden Years Care Center in Harrisonville. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Salvation Army.

Charlotte was born Aug. 2, 1936, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, a daughter of Charles O. Warren and Dorothy J. (Savage) Warren.

She graduated from Manual High School in Kansas City with the class of 1954. After high school and during her early career days, she enjoyed working for Frances Gee Garment Company.

Charlotte met Kenneth Kite and they were married Dec. 14, 1968. She went on to work as a typist and receptionist for the Marine Corps Finance Center for approximately 25 years before retiring in 2000.

In her free time, she always had a love for sewing and crocheting and was an excellent seamstress. Charlotte had a deep faith and attended church throughout her life. She will be most remembered for her faithfulness and for being an excellent mother and grandmother that will be dearly missed by those she leaves behind.

As she enters into rest, her children leave their thoughts with this verse: “His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’” – Matthew 25:23.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth Kite, Sr.; her brother, Bill Warren; her grandson, Adam Walker; and her nephew, Charles Warren.

She is survived by her children, Beverly Murphey, Oskaloosa, Kansas; Kenneth Kite, Jr., Creighton; and Barbara Vogel, Branson; her grandchildren, Charlotte Gleason, Oskaloosa, Kansas; Amber Vogel, Branson; and Greg Vogel, Jr., Springfield; and four great-grandchildren, Amelia, Zac, Lilly and Konnor.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

Lisa S. McCubbin
Nov. 29, 1964 – June 29, 2020

Lisa McCubbin, 55, Drexel, died June 29 at her home in Drexel. Funeral services were July 2 at the Mullinax Funeral Home, Drexel Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to a family fund set up at Citizens Bank.

Lisa Suzanne McCubbin was born Nov. 29, 1964, in Harrisonville, the daughter of Da-
vid and Phyllis Spencer Gilbert.

She grew up in the Drexel and West Line area. Lisa graduated from Midway High School in 1984.

She married Dwight McCubbin in 1985. To this union three children were born. Lisa worked most of her life as a babysitter and homemaker raising her family.

Family was important to Lisa, they always came first in her life and she cherished the time she got to spend with them, especially the grandchildren.

Lisa was preceded in death by her father; grandparents; her aunt, Ann Spencer; her mother-in-law, Lila McCubbin; and two brothers-in-law.

She is survived by her husband, Dwight McCubbin; son, Jonathan McCubbin and fiancee Amanda; daughter, Shelbi Evans and husband, Cody; son, Jushua McCubbin; three grandsons, Jonathan Jr., Aydyn and Bentley.

She also leaves behind her mother, Phyllis Gilbert; brothers, Tommy Gilbert and wife, Carey, Davey Gilbert and Darrell Gilbert and wife, Sheryl; along with many extend family members and dear friends.

Doris Jean McKee
April 2, 1931 – June 11, 2020

Doris Jean McKee, Harrisonville, was born April 2, 1931, near East Lynne, the daughter of Fred and Susie Ann (Roth) Stutzman.

She died June 11 at Golden Years Care Services, Harrisonville, at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 9 days.

Doris was married to Samuel Wright and later married Howard McKee.

Doris was a homemaker. A faithful member of Sycamore Grove Mennonite Church, Garden City, she enjoyed taking part in church activities.

She enjoyed crocheting and making items for the annual MCC sale until her eyesight began to fail.

She liked to travel, visiting family and friends and attending family gatherings. Doris was a Pink Lady at Cass Regional Medical Center, Harrisonville, until her health would not let her volunteer anymore.

She had lived in Garden City, Harrisonville and Holden, before moving back to Harrisonville in 1982.

Besides her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her two husbands, Sam and Howard; two brothers, Orville and Wayne Stutzman; two sisters, Lela Gudde and Freda Hochstetler.

Doris is survived by two sisters, Betty Honaker and Loren, Blue Springs, and Dorothy Schindler and Jerry, Liberty; nine nephews, six nieces; many cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were June 17 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, with burial in the Clearfork Cemetery, Garden City.

The family suggests memorial contributions be to the Sycamore Grove Mennonite Church Memorial Fund.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

Kathy J. Osborn
Feb. 3, 1950 – June 29, 2020

Kathy Osborn 70, Drexel, died June 29 at her home in Drexel. Cremation with private family services to be held at a later date.

Kathy Jo Osborn was born Feb. 3, 1950, in Harrisonville the daughter of Harold and Pauline McAnany Nafus. She grew up in the Drexel area and has been a lifelong resident.

Kathy married Melvin Osborn April 27, 1968. To this union two children were born.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Melvin Osborn; son, Dennis Osborn and wife, Sarah; daughter, Jennifer Osborn; grandchildren, Sophie, Jackson and Mackenna; along with many extended family members and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or City Union Mission.

Ira C. Barnard
Jan. 27, 1945 – June 29, 2020

Ira Clinton Barnard, 75, Adrian, formerly of Harrisonville, died June 29 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City.

Ira was born Jan. 27, 1945, in Harrisonville, the son of Clyde Velmer and Kate Christina (Eifert) Barnard.

He married LaVonne Hanson Dec. 24, 1969, at the Lutheran Church in Belton.

He had lived in Harrisonville before moving to the farm in Adrian in 1995. Ira had worked at Busy Bee Salvage in Harrisonville before buying his own business. He owned Barnard Auto Salvage in Harrisonville for 38 years, before retiring in 2010.

Ira loved working hard at his salvage yard and visiting with his friends and customers. He loved working on his ranch with his cattle and cutting and baling hay.

He loved being on the cruise ships and eating at the buffets. Ira did so much for so many; his friends, family and the community.

He had a reputation of being kind, honest, hardworking, trustworthy and was a solid businessman with integrity unmatched. Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure; you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.

Ira was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.

He is survived by his wife, LaVonne, of the home and a daughter, Theresa Barnard, Garden City.

The family would like to thank everyone for their kind words of encouragement and support during this difficult time. May God bless you all.

Funeral services were July 3 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Burial was in Wills Cemetery in Peculiar.

Nancy K. Long
Sept. 19, 1942 – June 27, 2020

Nancy Kathryn Long, 77, Adrian, died June 27 at her home with her children by her side.

Nancy was born Sept. 19, 1942, near Iconium in St. Clair County, the daughter of John C. Greenwell, Sr., and Beulah May (Feaster) Greenwell.

She married John “Pete” Long Sept. 10, 1958. They were blessed with three children,
Clint, Robin and Rhonda.

Nancy worked as a painter for Bass Buster Lures, TWA and American Airlines, retiring in 2008.

Nancy was dedicated to her family, friends and faith. She enjoyed crocheting, caring for her many plants and flowers, traveling and was a devoted Royals and Chiefs fan.

Nancy loved to visit with family and friends, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Pete; her parents, John C. and Beulah Mae Greenwell; her brother, John C. Greenwell, Jr.; her sisters: Virginia Lee Shelton and Beulah Mae Allison; and her son-in-law, Rick Watson.

She is survived by her children, Clint Long and his wife, Susi, Pleasant Hill; Robin Watson, Warrensburg, and Rhonda Koehn and her husband, Mark, Adrian; eight grandchildren, Dessa Watson, Ben Koehn and wife, Ashley, Ricky Watson and wife, Tammy, Chelsea Dangler and husband, Chip, Jake Koehn and wife, Kristen, Zachary Ford, Rachel Long and Grant Long; nine great-grandchildren, Sammi, Waylon, Phoenix, Brylan, Nola, Talon, Willie, Charlie and Nellie; her sister-in-law, Darlene Greenwell; brothers -in-law, Arnie Shelton and Porter Allison; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were July 1 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian.

Interment was in Crescent Hill Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Arthritis Foundation.

Eddie W. Shouse
Feb. 14, 1943 – June 26, 2020

Eddie William Shouse, 77, Butler, died June 26 at his home in rural Butler, near Ballard, with his family by his side.

He was born Feb. 14, 1943, the son of Raymond Chester and Opal Hannah Hill Shouse in El Dorado Springs.

Eddie, one of four children, grew up around Walker and attended several schools including Schell City and Metz High Schools.

March 30, 1972, he married Konna Poore at the Fairview Baptist Church in Ballard and they had three children.

In his early years, Eddie worked for the Missouri Highway Department and later Producer’s Grain in Nevada. Eddie also worked for Hutchens Brothers’ Elevator, McElroy Feed and Grain in Rich Hill and Merriam’s Plumbing in Harrisonville.

Throughout his life, he raised cattle on the family farms, first near Horton and later near Ballard.

Eddie was a man of strong conviction, he did things his way and had several colorful sayings, some of which the grandchildren were encouraged not to repeat.

He enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren, spending time with his family and socializing and trading at area sale barns.

Eddie was a fixture at MO-Kan, Archie, and former Don Ghere sale barns through the years.

He attended Fairview Baptist Church when his health allowed. When he was young, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Anyone who knew Eddie knew cattle was his life and he enjoyed the family farms immensely.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Bonnie Mae Shouse.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 48 years, Konna Shouse, Butler; a son, Erik Shouse, Nevada; two daughters, Mindy Shouse-Carnoali and husband, Jeff, Independence, and Krista Shouse-Jones and husband, Geoff, Columbia; a brother, Cecil Shouse and wife, Beverly, Rich Hill; a sister, Kay Henley, Independence; and three beloved grandchildren, Konnar Jones, Karli Jones and Evelyn Shouse; as well as several nieces, nephews and many cousins.

Funeral services were held July 3 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel, Butler.

Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler.

Contributions are suggested to Fairview Baptist Church or Friendship Inn. Arrangements were under the direction of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel, Butler.
