Frances R. Groves
March 15, 1934 – May 11, 2020
Frances Roberta Groves, 86, Adrian, died May 11 at the Medicalodge of Butler in Butler.
A graveside service was May 16 at Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian. Memorial donations are suggested to Crescent Hill Cemetery.
Frances was born March 15, 1934, in Jerico Springs, the daughter of Charley and Melva (West) Freedle.
Frances was married to Wayne Groves Dec. 31, 1952, in Bentonville, Arkansas. The two eloped and enjoyed a marriage of 51 years before Wayne preceded her in death July 27, 2003.
Frances owned and operated the Homestead House Restaurant for eight years in the 1970s.
She was a founding member of the Victory Assembly of God Church in Adrian and enjoyed being a Sunday school teacher.
She was well known and admired for the meticulous care of her yard, tireless in her never-ending battle against tree leaves in the fall and fearsome against pesky squirrels.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother, Meredith Freedle.
She is survived by her sons, Larry Groves, Harrisonville, and Ronald Groves, Grandview; her sister-in-law, Janice Freedle, Auburn, Washington; and three grandchildren, Stephen, Emily and Charley.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Atkinson Funeral Home, Adrian.
Frederic “Fred” Chester Dillon
June 13, 1926 – May 12, 2020
Frederic “Fred” Chester Dillon, 93, Freeman, died May 12 at the Medicalodge of Butler in Butler.
A graveside service was May 18 at the Freeman Cemetery in Freeman.
Fred was born June 13, 1926, in North Bend, Oregon, the son of Samuel Chester and Amna Elizabeth (Godard) Dillon.
He served in the United States Army as a medic during the Korean War, where he was honorably discharged after being wounded.
Fred went on to obtain his Master’s Degree in Education, working for Cass-Midway Schools in Cleveland and retiring in 1975.
During his time at Cass-Midway, he met his wife, Nancy Smith. They were married May 22, 1965, at the Freeman Baptist Church.
They enjoyed 48 years of marriage before she preceded him in death Dec. 3, 2013.
Fred was a member of the Freeman Baptist Church.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy; his brother, Franklin Dillon; and his sister, Vivian Tusing.
He is survived by his daughter, Louise Irvin, Freeman, and two grandchildren: Mykeillah Dillon and Izac Irvin.

James R. Ely
March 21, 1940 – May 9, 2020
James Robert “Bob” Ely, Jr., died May9. He was born in Kansas City, Kansas, March 21, 1940, the son of James Robert “Bob” Ely, Sr., and Lillian L. (Kunkle) Ely.
He lived most of his life in Harrisonville. He met and married the love of his life, Margeret I. (Goodlett) Ely in 1961 and they raised three children Tim Ely, Julie Call and Shelly Hulsey.
Bob was a member of the First Baptist Church of East Lynne for his entire adult life, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Bob was a strong, faithful and hardworking husband, father and friend. He worked as a farmer for many years, raising cattle, hogs and many acres of crops on their family farm.
He was also a full-time tool and dye maker for Bendix for 28 years, days he spoke fondly of for decades after his retirement.
He was happiest spending time with Margeret, enjoying his beautiful family, his farm, church activities and watching movies and Chiefs football.
The unconditional love that Bob and Margeret shared was a special legacy for their children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter to witness.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Bob, Sr., and Lillian Ely; and his sister, Alice Carole (Ely) Mattox.
He leaves his beloved wife of 58 years, Margeret Ely; son, Tim and wife. Andrea Ely; daughters Julie Call and Shelly Hulsey; grandchildren Caleb, Jordan, Molly, Reese, Meg and Jay; great- granddaughter, Kynlee; and many beloved nephews and nieces. We will miss you tremendously, Dad.
Cremation with no services scheduled at this time.

Mary H. Fobes
June 22, 1945 – May 13, 2020
Mary Helen Fobes, 74, Peculiar, died May 13 at Research Medical Center,
Kansas City.
She is survived by two sons, Tim Fobes and Tracie, Raymore, and Matthew Fobes, Archie; a daughter, Carolyn McKean and Troy, Dallas, Georgia; five grandchildren; three brothers, Chuck Bittner, Raytown, Steve Bittner and Tom Bittner both of Overland Park, Kansas; a sister, Cathy Indzers, Raymore; other relatives and friends.
Funeral Mass was May 18 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville, with burial in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Spina Bifida Association.

Arthur R. Lovewell
Feb. 10, 1938 – May 14, 2020
Arthur “Art” Ray Lovewell, 82, Latour, died May 14 in his home surrounded by his family.
Art was born Feb. 10, 1938, on a farm near Collins, the son of Oliver Edward and Clara Mae (Gardner) Lovewell.
Art married Barbara Riffle of Garden City Sept. 5, 1959, in Miami, Oklahoma. They lived 60 years together and raised their children, Arnetta, Andrea and Randy, on a farm near Latour.
Art was a lifelong farmer, raising cows and pigs. He was a truck driver for Stahl Specialty Company for 37 years. After his retirement from Stahl’s, he continued to drive trucks for local companies.
Art was passionate about his family. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren fishing and hunting and taught them to drive and shoot guns.
Later in life, Arthur frequented local coffee shops where he enjoyed sharing stories, catching up with his friends and making new friends.
Art was a member of the Holden United Methodist Church where he was especially fond of coffee, doughnuts and conversation, both before and after the service.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Clara Mae; a sister, Mollie Famuliner; and two brothers, Dave Lovewell and Tom Lovewell.
Art is survived by his wife, Barbara, of the home; his children, Arnetta and Steve Lango, Latour, Andrea Evans, Holden, Randall “Randy” and JoLynn Lovewell, Creighton; a brother, Ed and Debbie Lovewell, Independence; grandchildren, Tara and Cody Jolliff, Grapevine, Texas, Nathan and Kristin Harris, Pleasant Hill, Bryan and Kati Evans, Bentonville, Arkansas, Bryce and Kerry Lovewell, Topeka, Kansas, Alice Evans, Holden, Hunter Lovewell and Baylee Lovewell, Creighton; great-grandchildren, Adaline, Barrett and Brant.
Art was also fond of the additional Lango family members he gained later in his life, with many children calling him “Pa.”
Cremation. A celebration of life gathering will be from 2 to 4 p.m. May 23 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Holden United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

Richard “Dick” Allen Morris

Richard “Dick” Allen Morris, 80, Raymore, died May 10 at his home.

James D. Muchmore
Jan. 11, 1943 – May 7, 2020
James “Jim” D. Muchmore, 77, Cleveland, died May 7 at St. Luke’s Hospital –Plaza in Kansas City. A private family funeral service was May 13 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville.
Burial was in the Freeman Cemetery in Freeman. Memorial donations are suggested to the West Line Christian Church.
Jim was born Jan. 11, 1943, in Warrensburg, the son of Cloyd Elroy “C.E.” and Jeraldine Alta (Ellenberger) Muchmore.
Jim grew up in Warrensburg, graduating from College High School in 1961. He went on to Central Missouri State University and achieved his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration in 1965.
He married Barbara Joyce Crook May 24, 1965, and she preceded him in death Aug. 23, 2008. They lived in Raytown and Greenwood, but eventually settled in Cleveland in 1995.
Jim spent his career as an accountant. He worked for Star Journal Publishing Co. in Warrensburg, Greenstreet Capital, Inc. and Aquila (formerly Missouri Public Service Company) throughout his life.
He retired in 2007 from Aquila. Jim accepted Jesus as his Savior at the age of 10 at the First Baptist Church in Warrensburg and was a current member of West Line Christian Church.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Barbara.
He is survived by his son and family, Danny and Lori Muchmore, Greenwood, his three grandchildren, Keillah Dillon, Wyatt Muchmore and Josie Muchmore; and a great-grandchild, Hanely Dillon.
