Learn to code

Girls in grades six through 12 are invited to attend these Girls Who Code sessions that are designed to inspire, educate and equip girls with computing skills to pursue 21st century  opportunities.

The sessions will meet from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Dec. 11 in the computer lab at the Harrisonville branch of the Cass County Public Library.

Free community health screenings at Sherwood Bank

Cass Regional Medical Center is providing free health screenings from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 30 at Sherwood Community Bank, 89 Old Highway 7, Garden City.

Receive free blood pressure, blood oxygen, blood sugar screenings and obtain a free total lipid profile, which measures total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides. For most accurate results, screening participants are asked to fast for at least 12 hours prior to the screening and take medications as usual (with water only). No appointments are necessary.

Tuesday, Dec. 4

Stop the Bleed offered

Cass Regional Medical Center will host a free Stop the Bleed educational program from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 4 in conference rooms 1 and 2 located directly inside the main entrance of Cass Regional at 2800 E. Rock Haven Rd., Harrisonville.

Victims can quickly die from uncontrolled bleeding, within five to 10 minutes. However, with proper training, anyone at the scene can act as an immediate responder.

The Stop the Bleed program includes instruction and practice on proper bleeding control techniques, including how to use your hands, dressings and tourniquets.

The Stop the Bleed educational program is free to the public.

Cass Regional Medical Center will host an Alzheimer’s Support Group meeting at 6 p.m. Dec. 11 in conference room 1 located directly inside the main entrance of the hospital at 2800 E. Rock Haven Rd., Harrisonville.

Wednesday, Dec. 12

COPD Support Group to meet

Cass Regional Medical Center will host a COPD Support Group at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 12 at Cass Regional Medical Center in conference rooms 1, 2 and 3, located directly inside the main entrance of the hospital at 2800 E. Rock Haven Rd., Harrisonville. This is the annual holiday luncheon.

This support group is for those diagnosed with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and their caregivers. Participants provide support to one another and learn methods to manage their conditions while taking part in everyday activities.

Community Blood Center Blood Drive slated

Cass Regional Medical Center will host the Community Blood Center’s Blood Drive from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 19 in conference rooms 1, 2 and 3, located directly inside the main entrance of the hospital at 2800 E. Rock Haven Rd., Harrisonville.

To donate, bring a photo ID (such as your driver’s license), eat well and drink plenty of fluids prior to your donation. For medical eligibility questions, call 800-245-7035.

Cass Regional Medical Center will host a free Diabetes Support Group meeting at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 20 in conference rooms 1, 2 and 3, located directly inside the main entrance of the hospital at 2800 E. Rock Haven Rd., Harrisonville.

Monthly, Cass Regional’s Diabetes Education team presents topics on current trends in diabetes treatments, lifestyle modification options and topics of interest for those who have diabetes or who have loved ones diagnosed with diabetes. This will be the holiday party for the group.
