Jimmie Lewis Burton

May 18, 1934 – Sept. 28, 2018

Jimmie L. Burton of Harrisonville,  died on Sept. 28 at the age of 84, at Crown Care Center, Harrisonville, after a long illness.

Jimmie was born May 18, 1934, in Pleasant Hill, the son of Charles Gilbert and Viola Mae (Kagarice) Burton. He was united in marriage to Carol Ann Painter on April 23, 1986. He worked as an automotive painter for General Motors until his retirement in 1987.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Harold G. Burton and Charles “Doc” Burton; his daughter, Betty Jo Burton; and his stepdaughter Mary Carol Painter.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann; his son, Jimmie D. Burton; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives; his stepson, Ricky Painter; and stepdaughter, Penny Painter Wright; and many friends.

Until his illness, Jimmie and his wife, Carol, enjoyed golfing, camping, canoeing, woodworking and traveling. Jimmie also enjoyed meeting his friends for morning coffee and he always had a good joke or two to tell.

A private gathering of immediate family will be held to celebrate his life.

 

Emma Jean Ewing

Feb. 3, 1946 – Sept. 26, 2018

Emma Jean Ewing, Harrisonville, was born Feb. 3, 1946, in Houstonia, the daughter of William Glenn and Anna I. (Hoch) Hedgpeth. She died Sept. 26 at her home at the age of 72 years, 7 months and 23 days.

June 26, 1965, Emma was united in marriage to Bill Wooldridge. She was united in marriage to Leroy Ewing Aug. 1, 1987.

Emma was employed as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Lee’s Summit until her retirement in 1987. She loved to dance, travel, go on cruises, swimming and being on the beach in the sun. Emma enjoyed collecting Precious Moments, her girl trips and playing games especially “Hide the Thimble” with her granddaughter.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents.

Emma is survived by two sons, Mike Wooldridge and wife, Angela, De Soto, Kansas, and Mark Wooldridge and girlfriend, Tida, Kansas City; a granddaughter, Hannah Wooldridge, Warsaw; three brothers, Glenn Hedgpeth, Jr., Cameron, Jerald Hedgpeth, Pleasant Hill, and Thomas Hedgpeth, Lee’s Summit; a sister, Joyce Charles, Clinton; and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation. A celebration of life gathering was Oct. 3 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Jacobson and McElliott Diabetes and Endocrinology Center at St. Luke’s South Hospital.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

 

Bert Morris Rinker

March 14, 1955 – Sept. 29, 2018

Bert Morris Rinker, III, 63, Blairstown, died Sept. 29 at his home. Funeral services were Oct. 4 at the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville, with burial in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman.

Bert was born March 14, 1955, in Butler, the son of Bert and Betty R. (Woodring) Rinker. He married Patricia Lyons on Nov. 18, 1997, in Harrisonville. After he graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 1973, Bert served as a medic in the United States Army.

Bert had lived in Harrisonville before moving to Blairstown 12 years ago. He worked for Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville as a medical technician and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan.

Bert was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Rinker. He is survived by his wife, Patti, of the home; three sons, Richard Lowrance, state of California, Ashly Hampton, St. Joseph, and Kiefer Lowrance, Blue Springs; one daughter, Ambrosa Estes, Harrisonville; his father, Bert Rinker, Harrisonville; two brothers, Bret Rinker, Harrisonville, and Paul Rinker, Pleasant Hill; and 12 grandchildren.

Arrangements were under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
